When my Fathers p.c closed down due to a virus, we think, he lost all the family photos and cannot find a way to retrieve them. I assume that they must be on the hard drive somewhere but we have no idea how to start to try and retrieve them. If anybody can help with this I would be most grateful.
My fathers p.c. had a virus and has cleared all his treasured photos. How can he recover them . HELP PLEASE !!
If you take it to Geek Squad, they should be able to help you out. I'd call before hand to make sure that they can do it. If they can't, there are some data recovery companies out there that can help you. You'll have to pay a lot for it, but at least you should be able to get the majority of your stuff back.
Reply:Try snapfiles restoration
Restoration is an easy to use and straight forward tool to undelete
files that were removed from the recycle bin or directly deleted from
within Windows, and we were also able to recover photos from a Flash
card that had been formatted. Upon start, you can scan for all files
that may be recovered and also limit the results by entering a search
term or extension. In addition, it also provides the option to wipe
the
found files beyond simple recovery. The program is small and
standalone, it does not require installation and can also run from a
Floppy disk. Restoration works with FAT and NTFS as well as digital
cameras cards.

Reply:If he deleted the files they are probably gone for good. Find out what folder he was saving them in. If he doesn't now, then have him show you how he was downloading them from his camera. Once he downloads the new pic, see what file it is being stored in. The pics are probably in his "my documents" folder, or the camera may have its own set of file folders where the pics are going. You can also do a seach for the photos using the search function in the start menu (if you know what they were named). Hope this helps. Otherwise you can go to "my computer" open up all the drives one at a time and manually check each folder to see if you can find them.
Reply:If these photographs are important to you you've really got to get expert help. Look in the Yellow Pages under "Data Recovery". Don't use the computer at all. The photographs may well still be on the hard drive but the more the computer is used the harder it will be to retrieve them.
Reply:They're gone for good.
Reply:if the data is not there:
data can be recovered, it does not matter even its deleted frm recycling bin. they use data recover software.
Don't try by yourself
