Hepatitis C help!!!?

when an RNA test is negative, is it possible that the hep c virus is there but just doesn't show in the test??? something like HIV, that can hide from detection and attack people after 7 years or something??? Please help.... Thanks...;)

Hepatitis C help!!!?
Hep C can't hide. If the RNA is neg, the test is neg. However, it is always wise to have run more than one test to confirm.

I saw your other question and you should have combined the two. I need to revise this answer. You have antibodies due a past exposure/infection but the virus is not active. Does this answer both your questions?
Reply:rna test is negative, meaning too recent an infection or has resolved on it's own. once you have antibodies to hcv you can still be infectious. you always will remain a carrier.

so yes, you can infect someone 7 years later.
Reply:yes like hiv, you need to be tested every 6 months for hep.c. it will and can hide. learned this from family doctor, my brother has hep.c. he be lucky to live another year. he has had it for 25 years now. i take very precaution to avoid any contact in hopes not to catch it too. it a sad thing.
Reply:NO
Reply:No, your liver is either inflamed or it isn't,,,it doesn't hide and appear.
