Hello!!! I am getting ready to start my second trimester, and labor gets closer, I get more nervous!!! I am worried about my labor experience, and haven't seen my Doctor to ask her yet. Both my sister and I were face up, my sister was an emergency c-section, and I should have been, as I had a hard time coming down the birth canal, and forceps had to be used. Both my husband and his sister were face up and required emergency c-section. Also, both of my sisters kids were face up and required c-section. What are the chances of my baby being face up and me having one? I DO NOT want to have an epidural if at all possible, which I don'tknow but was told you have to have one when having a c section. Also, I have heard my DR. is a hard ball, not sure if she will take me seriously if I bring this up that I am worried. Please let me know everything you possibly can I am so stressed which I know is bad!! HELP!!!
Baby Face up Genetic?? High chance of c-section? HELP!!!?
I want to say that it is not genetics..it's just how the baby goes. With my mom I was face up, one they had to turn the baby and the next two were fine and the last one wouldn't come down the birth canal so they had to suction cup him to bring him down. My child when giving birth found out that she was in the "frank" position which means her feet were up by her head and she was trying to come down butt first. I think it's all on how the baby decides to go and how much room you have.
Reply:I'm a little confused... why would anyone NEED a c-section just because the baby is face up? C-Sections are definitely not necessary just because of this situation.
There are things you can do to help turn a baby who is facing the wrong way, after you go into labor. This is definitely worth asking your doctor about - if he doesn't take you seriously, then find a new doctor. My sister's first baby was face-up and she did all the things she learned in birth class to help the baby turn over and she did turn over before it was time to deliver.
Avoiding an epidural is actually a very good choice if you do end up with a face-up baby. If you have the epidural, you will not be mobile, and therefore the baby won't have a very good chance of turning itself over.
Reply:My son was face up and I did not have to have a c-section. I would say that it is coincidence. I know that every woman and every pregnancy is different. I also had an epidural with my son, it was in my best interest b/c my threshold for pain is not that high, and I was fine afterwards. Hope this helps out a little. Just relax and let nature tell u when it is time.
Reply:no its not genetic's what has happend in your's and your husbands family is purely just a coincidence.
I didnt want an epidurial and i stuck by my word and im glad i did as even though the birth can be painfull its a nice experience.
Going natural, your body tells you when to push and what to do where as with the ep you have to be told when to push and what to do etc and normally the labour for people who have an epidurial are normally longer and have more complications.
I had just gas and air and im planing to do the same this time.
Reply:i don't think that is genetic however my 1st baby was face up and my doc turned his head after he was so far out it is a bit more painful this way but still possible to have it vaginally
